IGNOU Regional Centre at Aizawl was established in the year December, 2000. The jurisdiction of the Regional Centre extends to the whole of Mizoram State. The Regional Centre started functioning with 9 (nine) Study Centre with its bifurcation from Regional Centre Shillong. At present, IGNOU RC Aizawl delivers its services through 14 (fourteen) Regular Study Centre, 17 (seventeen) Programme Study Centre and 12 (twelve) Special Study Centre covering all the eight districts in the state of Mizoram. The Regional Centre, Aizawl now offers various academic programmes ranging from Certificate courses, Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma/Certificates, Bachelor's degree  to Master's degree programmes. The main objective of the establishment of the Regional Centre is to bring quality education to all.
