Report on the Special Gram Sabha Programme – 2nd October 2024
On 2nd October 2024, a Special Gram Sabha was organized at the Community Hall in Muthi as part of the People’s Plan Campaign for the GPDP 2025-26. The event was conducted by the Local Administration Department (LAD), Government of Mizoram. Dr. V.T. Jalajakumari, Regional Director, Dr. Zohmangaihi Ralte Asst. Coordinator LSC-1900 and Mr. Israela AE/DP along with 10 students from IGNOU RC Aizawl attended the programme.
The program was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister of LAD, Mr. C. Lalsawivunga, and featured several key events, including the distribution of honors to elderly villagers and a speech on the village's historical background. A pledge was administered focusing on cleanliness and sanitation, emphasizing the significance of community participation in these initiatives.
Dr. Jalajakumari, Regional Director of IGNOU, addressed the gathering, discussing the importance of celebrating 2nd October and the goals of the People’s Plan Campaign, with particular reference to the workings of the Special Gram Sabha. Muthi being one of our adopted villages under UBA, the initiatives to be planned for future endeavours of UBA has also been shared with the Village Council’s members and the public who have participated in the programme by the team from IGNOU RC. Further insights of PPC were shared by the Secretary of LAD, followed by an orientation session by representatives from the State Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (SIRD & PR), Mizoram.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Block Development Officer (BDO) of the district, marking a successful and community-driven program aimed at fostering development and social awareness. Students who have participated gained thorough information regarding the current activities of Muthi Village and the future initiatives under PPC 2025-2026.
